The term "bogey hole" derives from an Aboriginal word meaning "to bathe" in Dharawal, an Aboriginal language from the Sydney area. It is believed that the Bogey Hole was used for hundreds of years by Aboriginal people as both a swimming spot and a trap for fish, most notably lobsters and shellfish.
You can access the Bogey Hole by walking around the headland from the southern end of Mollymook beach; alternatively you can drive and park at Riversdale Avenue car park, across the way from the Beachside Golf Course.
